The Hundredths mega-containership in Rotterdam

Thursday afternoon the Evelyn Maersk entered as the hundredths ultra large container carrier (ulcc) of 2010 the port of Rotterdam. The first ulcc, container ships whit more than 10,000 teu entered the port of Rotterdam three years ago. Now such vessels enters Rotterdam daily.

EMO takes spot Van Uden on Hartelstrook

Van Uden concentrates the settlement of the bulk carriers on its current terminal to the Merwe harbour.
The exchange is related to the broadening of the Amazon port of 255 to 305 meters, necessary to allow always growing container ships and to accommodate these ships at the ECT delta terminal. For that broadening and for the establishment of the electricity call centre of Electrabel, EMO surrendered 23 hectares that they had in hand. Emo in return receives the ores and coal area on the Hartelstrook. The Hartelstrook, jammed in between A15 and and the Mississipi harbour, exist ot of three plots. Except two for EMO there is one for the slab terminal of Steinweg. The port company Rotterdam invests 175 million euro in the broadening of the Amazon port. The activities will start beginning 2011.
